Coronavirus: Restrictions in Oldham
Restrictions, designed to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, remain in force across Oldham and Greater Manchester.

This means you must not socialise with anyone you do not live with unless they are in your support bubble.

There are also additional restrictions in place here in Oldham that relate to public transport and funerals.

We need everyone to follow the guidance outlined in order to stop the spread, keep people safe and to save lives.

World Mental Health Day – 09 October 2020
The Coronavirus pandemic has had a massive impact on all of our lives – especially with current restrictions preventing us from being able to see our friends and family or doing some of the things we usually enjoy.

For many this has had a devastating impact on their mental health, and as we celebrate World Mental Health Day today, it is important for you to know that support is on hand if you are struggling, especially in these uncertain times.

If you need someone to talk to or need some general support please visit our website ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

#WMHD20

It is with great sadness that this year’s Big Bang Bonfire is unable to take place due to current restrictions on social gatherings.

We know this will come as a huge disappointment to the thousands of you who attend each year.
But, if we all continue to do our bit to stop the spread of the virus and keep people safe, we will hopefully be back bigger and better in 2021!

For more information on this, please visit our website ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
Local enforcement

If you don’t stick to the current restrictions here in Oldham, you could be landed with a hefty fine. That was the outcome for a number of businesses in on our borough earlier this week after our enforcement team caught them out and issued fines of £1,000

One takeaway shop had continued to serve food after the 10pm curfew, while one barber shop was landed with two separate fines for not displaying a QR code or carrying out track and trace with its customers.

Follow the guidance and keep people safe or you could face the same penalty.
National Hate Crime Awareness Week – October 10–17

As tomorrow marks the beginning of National Hate Crime Awareness Week), it is important to remember that support is available to anyone who has been affected by a hatful act.

Hate crime is abhorrent and has no place in our borough and we are doing everything we can to ensure victims do not suffer in silence.

If you have been a victim or witness to an act of violence or hostility because of who you are or what someone thinks you are, it’s important you speak to someone for support and report it.

Help shape the final Greater Manchester Clean Air Plan now

Are you concerned about harmful air pollution in your area? Have any ideas on how we could reduce the problem? Well now is the time to have your say as Greater Manchester have launched an eight-week consultation on Clean Air Plan proposals for the city region.

These proposals have been created after the government instructed the city region to introduce a charging Clean Air Zone across all ten local authorities, including Oldham, to help tackle the problem.

Part of these proposals could see some vehicles that don’t meet emissions standards having to pay a daily charge to drive in and around the zone.

To find our more on these proposals and to have your say on this consultation, visit cleanairgm.com before Thursday 3 December 2020.
Let’s talk taxis

Do you travel by taxi or private hire services? Whether you use them on a night out or to get around locally, we want you to have peace of mind on every journey.

That’s why we’re proposing minimum standards for every service licensed in Oldham as part of Greater Manchester’s plans to make sure every journey is safer and more reliable.

An eight-week public consultation on the proposals is currently running until midnight on Thursday 3 December 2020. Be sure to have your say today by visiting [link removed][UNIQID].
