I know you only heard from me last night, but we now have just eight days left before the final votes will be cast this election and we know these final days will be a critical time to reach as many potential voters as possible.

Our opponents are all ramping up their advertising campaigns during this final stretch, and it’s so important that we are able to compete with them to get our plan for a strong economic recovery in front of voters.

Right now, we’re finalising our own advertising placements for this last week of campaigning — and our focus is on big, major ad buys. In just a few hours, I need to approve additional money to run ads from Saturday (tomorrow) to next Friday (final day of campaigning).

Along with running targeted digital ads on YouTube and Facebook, we’ve got a huge opportunity to run false covers in different print media around the country, and I’d love to be able to finalise our bookings as soon as I can. These newspaper ad wrap-arounds are expensive but effective, and the more money our supporters are able generously to chip in, the more of these ads placements we’ll be able to say yes to!

John, at this point in the race, every day matters and every single contribution, no matter what size, will make a direct difference to how many ads we can run in this final week.

I’m really proud of the campaign that we are running together to re-elect a Labour government and keep New Zealand moving. Thank you for everything you’ve done to make this a better campaign.
