Dear John,
How do we actually put a stop to workplace harassment once and for all? We have to fundamentally change the systems and laws that so often work against those who are harassed and assaulted on the job. That’s why we’re so excited about a landmark new bill, the BE HEARD in the Workplace Act, which would ensure people can experience equality, safety, and dignity on the job no matter who they are or where they work.
The BE HEARD at the Workplace Act is the first comprehensive federal workplace harassment legislation proposed in the wake of #MeToo and offers a groundbreaking set of reforms centered on the lived experiences of the most vulnerable workers, designed to prevent and respond to all forms of harassment and discrimination, whether based on sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), race, color, national origin, religion, age, or disability. Tell Congress to act and pass this landmark reform now! [[link removed]]

The BE HEARD in the Workplace Act will ensure that all people can work with equality, safety and dignity by:

● Expanding anti-harassment and anti-discrimination protections to all working people – including independent contractors and people working for small businesses - for the first time
● Making it clear that harassment and other forms of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity are illegal sex discrimination
● Ensuring employers can’t prevent victims of harassment from talking about their experiences, by prohibiting forced arbitration and limiting the use of NDAs
● Ensuring people who get tips, like servers, are paid at least the same minimum wage as other workers, so tipped workers don’t have to put up with harassment from customers as the price of making a living
● Requiring employers to take steps to prevent harassment
● And much more!

It’s time for Congress to act and pass the BE HEARD in the Workplace Act. Sign the petition today! [[link removed]]
This bill will benefit working people across the country, across all industries and occupations. It’s what we all deserve. We will continue the fight to stop and prevent workplace harassment by making sure that Congress passes the BE HEARD in the Workplace Act.
