Team,

I support Molly Gray to be the next Lieutenant Governor of Vermont. Molly will help usher in Vermont’s next generation of leaders we can be proud of, but she needs our help to win. Please consider donating to her campaign today to help her down the stretch:

When I think about my years in Vermont politics, serving in the State Senate and in Congress, I realize how much the way we do politics in Vermont—values-based, inclusive, open to all voices, respectful of individual rights (to marry the person you love, for example) and mindful of our common responsibilities (to address, not ignore, climate change, for example)—is a model for the rest of the country. I have especially appreciated two things throughout my political career.

First, how much we all owe to those Vermont political leaders and all Vermonters who served us so long, nurturing and sustaining the values from Town Meeting to the Statehouse, building a political culture of norms and service.

Second, how much each of us must do to support a new generation of leaders to carry the torch to renew and sustain those values.

It’s why I am supporting Molly Gray for Lieutenant Governor.

Why has her campaign excited so many Vermonters? It’s because Molly—born on a Vermont farm, with small town roots and a lifelong commitment to service—is part of an emerging generation of new leaders. She’s grounded in those Vermont values we cherish and is committed to putting them to work on our behalf as Lieutenant Governor.

I know Molly better than most. When she was a senior at UVM, she volunteered on my 2006 congressional campaign—an 18-month march where Vermonters decided who would represent them in Congress to replace Bernie Sanders. When Molly graduated from UVM she was one of my first full-time campaign staffers and took on the role of scheduling, among other things, in a demanding and hotly contested campaign. She was diligent, professional, and energetic and she coordinated my visits to all 251 Vermont cities, towns, and gores.

And when I went to Washington, Molly came with me. Every step of the way, she was there. We worked closely together, and I saw her skills and temperament firsthand.

I am proud of Molly and believe she will be a great Lieutenant Governor. Let’s help her get across the finish line by supporting and donating to her campaign today:
