Friend --

On Tuesday, we testified before the Congressional Natural Resources Subcommittee about how the Trump administration has used the COVID-19 crisis as a cover to bail out Big Oil, Gas, Coal, and other extractive industries.

To learn more about all the different lifelines that have been afforded to fossil fuel and extractive industries, please watch a highlight of my testimony right now [[link removed]] .

We know that the Trump administration directed some $7 billion dollars in CARES Act relief funding to the fossil fuel industry and at least another $3 billion in tax breaks. We also know that the Bureau of Land Management is slashing royalties to as low as half a percent on public land leased for drilling by Exxon Mobil and BP -- multinational and billion-dollar companies. These giveaways take money away from states and local governments that would normally benefit from royalty payment revenue.

While states and local governments are trying to manage a pandemic response, the Trump administration is prioritizing their Big Oil donors, and American taxpayers are left holding the bill.
