We need to keep the momentum rolling and continue growing our movement from coast to coast to coast, and our next Virtual Weekend of Action will take place on October 17-18.

Stopping the harmful practice of conversion therapy

There’s no place in Canada for the destructive and harmful practice of conversion therapy, which has hurt far too many LGBTQ2 Canadians. That’s why the Liberal government has re-introduced legislation which will criminalize this cruel and degrading practice.

As we continue to advance reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous peoples, it is important that we honour survivors of the residential school system and their families. A few weeks ago, Jonathan Wilkinson announced the designation of residential school sites as national historic sites, and recently, Canadians recognized #OrangeShirtDay. This is a day to raise awareness of the tragic legacy of residential schools and honour all survivors and families who continue to endure the trauma. Read Marc Miller’s Facebook post.

AYN - plan to ban harmful single-use plastics

Yesterday, the Liberal government announced that we will modernize Canada’s Environmental Protection Act and move forward with our plan to ban harmful single-use plastics. This is another important way that the Liberal government is taking bold action to protect a clean environment today and for our future generations.
