Stop Trump’s nominee to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals

IMPORTANT UPDATE —

Last night, Donald Trump threatened our civil rights by formally nominating Steven Menashi — an advocate of ethnonationalism and a White House lawyer — to a lifetime seat on the federal court. Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham are rushing Menashi through the confirmation process and already scheduled a confirmation hearing for tomorrow, so we don't have time to waste.

Menashi is infamous for homophobic, sexist, Islamophobic, and otherwise offensive and far-right writing. He has advocated for ethnonationalism in a paper that Rachel Maddow summarized as "you can't really have a country that works if you've got all sorts of different people in it." This appointment is a threat to civil rights, so we need to act now.

Steven Menashi could spend decades on the federal bench, writing decisions that would hurt generations of Americans. The Senate needs to step up and refuse to confirm him — add your name to tell your senators that they can’t put an ethnonationalism advocate on the bench.

But it’s not just Menashi’s writing that’s chilling — as a member of the Trump administration, he worked with Betsy DeVos to roll back protections for survivors of sexual assault on college campuses, gutted the civil rights enforcement arm of the Department of Education, and participated in an immigration working group led by Stephen Miller (the architect of Trump’s cruelest immigration policies). We’ve seen what it looks like with Menashi in the executive branch — now imagine what it would look like if he lands a lifetime appointment as a federal judge, where he could rubberstamp Trump’s anti-women, anti-immigrant agenda.

We won’t allow Trump and McConnell to fill the courts with ethnonationalist judges. Tell the Senate to reject Menashi's nomination and discrimination in all forms.

Together, we can take back the courts.
