Dear Friend,

Today we announced that Executive Director Justine Nagan will be stepping down from her role ([link removed][UNIQID]#overview) . She will stay on until Spring 2021 when a replacement is named.

Since Justine took the helm in 2015, AmDoc has significantly expanded the number of women and BIPOC filmmakers in its broadcast programming. She grew the organization's leadership team to launch new programs that focused on engagement, interactive storytelling and support for artists. She raised AmDoc’s profile with the premiere of nearly 100 documentary projects and the addition of multiple Peabody Awards and Emmys along with an impressive list of Oscar nominations.

I want to acknowledge Justine’s enormous dedication to AmDoc’s mission and vision and her ongoing commitment to the independent documentary media community. The Board is grateful for her pledge to stay on at AmDoc during this transition period.

Working with an executive consultant and with input from staff, the Search Committee will embark on a broad search for a new executive director who will join us in our commitment to center diversity throughout the organization, the industry, and the communities we serve. AmDoc represents the best of public broadcasting and documentary filmmaking. During this transformative moment, we seek candidates with the experience and vision to lead the organization forward.

We encourage you to circulate the job description attached here ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

Sincerely,

Margaret Drain
Chair, American Documentary Board of Directors
