Dear John,

Network of enlightened Women chapters have been off to a great start to the school year this fall with 50 events and meetings hosted last month and another 20 already scheduled this month. NeW at Cornell University is one of these thriving chapters.

In September, the women from Cornell hosted their first meeting of the semester to discuss national events including the Presidential election and the current state of COVID-19. This event introduced several new members to the chapter and brought an important perspective to the conversations happening amongst their peers.

Due to COVID-19, Cornell University is completely virtual for the semester, but this hasn’t stopped NeW at Cornell from finding ways to connect, recruit new members, and host events. They have plans to read You’re Not Enough (And That’s Okay) ([link removed]) by Allie Stuckey. In addition to joining the conversation on the book with NeW National ([link removed]) , they’ll be reading and discussing the book at their chapter meetings.

On October 14, they have partnered with other organizations on campus to host a Women in Politics panel discussion where Lisa Daftari will be representing the conservative viewpoint. Additionally, on November 4, they look forward to an empowering conversation with Inez Stepman from the Independent Women's Forum on the growing popularity of socialism in America.

"NeW at Cornell University is taking advantage of all that NeW has to offer as we grow to include more social events, speakers, and partnering with more organizations on campus. We are really focused on creating community for women and making our chapter one of the prominent conservative voices at Cornell. We are so incredibly grateful for the support in planning events and all of the resources that NeW provides to us in order to help make our chapter a success and promote intellectual diversity on a leftist campus." - Grace Ogden, President of NeW at Cornell University

Through social events and public policy discussions, NeW chapters like Cornell University are adding an important voice to the conversations occurring on and around college campuses. Are you encouraged by the intellectual diversity and narrative NeW women are bringing to campus? Join us and continue to promote this much-needed message on campus. ([link removed])

Sincerely,

NeW in the News
Last week, Karin Lips was published in USA Today. She writes about how conservative women are frequently the center of attacks and mocking from the left oftentimes on the same points they claim to champion. Immediately following Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination for the Supreme Court, she and conservative women across the country were attacked simply for their beliefs and values. Lips writes about how this isn’t new and because of that, conservative women are stronger and know what to expect.

She writes, “Conservative women need to be prepared to fight back against those who seek to silence and marginalize them, especially as we become the focus of political debate and the Supreme Court. When the mocking inevitably comes, women should name it and expose it for what it is: Stereotyping at its worst. Then work to move the debate back to the issue, which is whether Barrett is qualified to be on the Supreme Court.”
