Dr. Anthony Fauci has urged Americans to “be on the right side of the truth,” despite Donald Trump’s continued politicization of the coronavirus pandemic. He’s also offered the frank appraisal that “the fact that our baseline of infections is still stuck around 40,000 per day” is deeply disturbing.

Dr. Fauci’s words serve as a stark reminder that this pandemic is still affecting the lives of millions of Americans -- all while Republicans across the country blindly follow Trump’s direction of claiming the virus is “over” and rolling back the CDC’s public health restrictions.

The United States continues to be the most affected country in the world from the coronavirus pandemic. To date, there have been over 7 million recorded cases of the virus, and nearly 210,000 Americans have lost their lives. Meanwhile, rather than finally heeding Dr. Fauci’s warnings, Trump’s only advice to Americans is: “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.”

We know that Donald Trump has publicly admitted to downplaying the virus despite knowing it was “deadly stuff” and that he will continue smearing Dr. Fauci and other public health officials who dare to contradict his lies. But we refuse to stand by and watch -- especially as Trump works to strip millions of their health care. Today, we’re proudly standing up for science, and we need to know -- will you stand with us?
