Moving Voting Rights from Ideal to Reality

Achieving voting rights for all in the U.S. means pushing “from the ideal to the reality,” says the Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver II, a United Methodist pastor and longtime representative of Missouri’s 5th Congressional District. Read his Q&A taken from the United Methodist Church’s fifth online discussion about eradicating racial injustice at https://www.umnews.org/en/news/moving-voting-rights-from-ideal-to-reality.

New:  Year-end Giving Materials Available Now

Share timely information and encouragement for year-end giving with your congregation.  Your Missouri United Methodist Foundation makes it easier than ever with a variety of new materials.  PDF files of flyers and Powerpoint slides can be emailed directly to you from the Foundation website to post on websites or facebook, attach to an email, include in an e-newsletter, or add to the scroll of announcements prior to online worship.   You may request customized materials – electronic or print - featuring the name of your church.  The traditional printed brochures are a great insert for giving statements, newsletters, or as a special mailing.  As always, Foundation materials are provided free of charge.  To place your order go to https://mumf.org/churches-organizations/order-brochures/ or call the Foundation office at 800-332-8238.

Prison Summit to be Held Virtually

Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century will virtually present the 5th National Prison Summit on Mass Incarceration, Oct. 29-31 via the Whova app. With “#BeTheHOPE” as its theme, the summit will promote advocacy, criminal justice reform and working within the church congregation to reimagine and build healthy communities. For more information or to register go to https://prisonsummit.com/.

There will be ample time at the end of the webinar for a live Q-and-A, so you can get your questions answered. Register to attend live or receive the recording via email: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7614273463028066828?source=Net+News.
