TAKE ACTION

Dear Friend –

Ready or not, the 2020 elections are upon us. There is so much at stake, and now is the time to fight for what we believe in.

No matter where or how you live in this world, we are all human. Though geography, language, and culture may distinguish us, ultimately, we’re more alike than we are different.

We all deserve to be treated equally and with dignity and compassion. We all deserve the same basic rights, from a livable planet to food and shelter, education, and healthcare.

America’s greatest challenges – climate change, income inequality, inequality for women and girls, refugee crises – are the same challenges facing people around the world. These problems, and the poverty they create, are only getting bigger. But they are challenges we can solve if we, and our leaders, rise to the occasion.

That is why from now through election day 2020, we need you to fight harder than ever.

To raise your voice, to vote, and to make sure your friends and family vote too.

This week, candidates will be on stage for the third Democratic debate – now is the time to make our voices heard. Hurricane Dorian is demonstrating, in real time, the grave damage climate change is causing to communities near and far. We need every candidate on the record with a plan to deal head-on with the reality of the crisis, regardless of the political make-up of Congress.

Sign your name and demand that every 2020 candidate commits to bold climate action that protects the most vulnerable people.

Climate change is destroying communities and threatening the lives of millions of people around the world. It is driving extreme floods and droughts, more frequent and severe storms, and unpredictable growing seasons. It is increasing hunger, damaging our water supply, fueling conflict, contributing to the spread of infectious diseases, and making it harder for people to lift themselves out of poverty.

Put simply, climate change represents the most severe threat to future generations and the fight against poverty our world currently faces. Climate change impacts the poorest and most vulnerable first and worst, but it will impact us all. We must bridge borders and stand up for the right to a livable planet for all.

Every candidate running for President must have a plan bold enough to take on the scale of the climate crisis and be willing to use every tool at their disposal to implement it.

Oxfam is a non-partisan organization. We will, however, always work to hold elected officials, regardless of their party, accountable and fight to protect the rights of the people we serve – here in the US and around the world.

In this upcoming year, we are urging Americans to mobilize and demand candidates commit to an agenda that ensures dignity for every person.

Join us to demand Dignity for All in 2020.

Thank you for standing with us in the fight for dignity, compassion, human rights, and equality.

Sincerely,

Abby Maxman
President
