If you missed it, yesterday, Pete and his opponent, Quinn Nystrom, participated in a live debate, hosted by the Duluth News Tribune and the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce. Throughout the debate, it was very clear that Pete is a congressman who puts the people of our great district and our way of life before partisan politics.
During yesterday’s debate, Nystrom lied about Pete's strong record of supporting protections for people with pre-existing conditions. As a father of four — one with special needs who has two pre-existing conditions — Pete fully understands the challenges associated with pre-existing conditions and is championing efforts to ensure that pre-existing conditions are covered.
This is a desperate attack that many Democrat politicians are using this election year, and by using these falsehoods, Pete’s opponent has proven that she is no better than Nancy Pelosi herself.
When asked about mining and Line 3 job opportunities, Nystrom PASSED! Actually, this isn't really surprising, since she has said she "cannot support Twin Metals and Polymet." By the end of the debate, Nystrom made it clear that she supports the Green New Deal, which would remove THOUSANDS of jobs from our district and MILLIONS more from our country.
When it comes to supporting our law enforcement community, Pete will always be on the front lines, after 22 years of service with the Duluth Police Department. During the debate, Pete spoke directly to moms and dads in communities across our 8th District: “I will always have your local police departments' backs. I will not allow my opponent or her party to defund the police.” He spoke of his work with leading Senator, Tim Scott of South Carolina, on criminal justice reform legislation, and reiterated the importance of law enforcement officers policing WITH communities.
In sum, yesterday’s debate revealed, once again, that Quinn Nystrom is just another follower of Nancy Pelosi and the Socialist Squad. We cannot allow her or her policies to affect our great way of life.
