The spread of intentional disinformation about how child sex trafficking happens
in most situations detracts from the very real, very important work of helping

The Latino Face of Human Trafficking report shows which industries in the U.S.
victimize immigrant populations from Latin America and the Caribbean based on
data from the National Human Trafficking Hotline. In the agriculture sector,
almost 89 percent of the likely victims were immigrants and nearly half of all
likely victims were from Mexico. With this report, Polaris hopes to better
understand and isolate the factors that lead to sex and labor trafficking of
migrants and refugees from Latin America and the Caribbean.

An analysis of the National Human Trafficking Hotline's 2019 data showed a
nearly 20 percent increase in the number of victims and survivors contacting the
hotline directly. This is a meaningful increase because victims and survivors of
sex and labor trafficking know their own needs and wants better than anyone
else, and when they reach out, the Trafficking Hotline is most likely to be able
to provide critical help.
