Last night, Senator Kamala Harris completely shut down Mike Pence, his obnoxious, countless lies, and his total backing of Trump’s racism.
After the first presidential debate, Senator Harris made it resoundingly clear what she thought of Trump’s refusal to condemn white supremacy, telling MSNBC: “What we saw was a dog whistle through a bullhorn. Donald Trump is not pretending to be anything other than what he is.”
Now exposed for what they are, Trump and the GOP will only amp up their attacks against Harris, who is set to be the first member of the AAPI community to assume power in the White House. In the past month alone, Trump has called Senator Harris “unlikeable,” said her executive position would be “an insult to our country,” and repeatedly and deliberately mispronounced her name.
USA Today reports that Harris's historic candidacy could galvanize turnout for South Asian voters, exactly what the Democratic party needs to ensure Trump and Pence don’t get another four years in office. But with Trump doubling down on his attempts to debase Harris’s character, it’s imperative that we stand up with our next VP. If not, her historic candidacy may never be realized.
