Dear John,

We’ve had some great news formally announced overnight - our representation in parliament has increased with Natalie Bennett being appointed to the House of Lords.

Natalie has been placed in Theresa May’s resignation honours list - a recognition forced by the 2 million votes in the European election and big gains at the local elections.

Thank you if you helped to make this happen!

Of course as Greens we want to see the House of Lords replaced by a fully, proportionally elected, democratic body, but in the meantime - as conference decided a few years ago - we have to do everything we can to ensure our voters, supporters and members can have their voice heard.

Natalie will be joining Jenny Jones as soon as she possibly can, with the chance to hold the government’s feet to the fire with tough questions, and to work with Caroline Lucas to promote great Green ideas. And she’ll also be continuing her work of the past six years, travelling the country to support local Green Parties and campaigns.

Now would be a great time to join as a Green Party member, as we gear up with Natalie for whatever the coming months might bring.

If you’d like to share with Natalie your thoughts about her work, or invite her to a local party event, she can be reached at [email protected].

The Green Wave is hitting the House of Lords, as it has in councils up and down the country, and with our seven MEPs in Brussels. These are exciting times to be part of the Greens!

Thank you, as ever, for all of your support.

Liz Reason
Chair, Green Party National Executive

PS. Do celebrate this amazing Green win and become a member of the Greens today.
