Our campaign to get the House of Lords to pass the NHS protection amendment to the Trade Bill has now reached a critical stage. And here’s the simple truth, if we are going to win in the Lords, we will need your help to put in a strong effort in the next two weeks.

Our letter to the leaders of the four main groups in the Lords will be at the heart of our efforts in the next two weeks. And we need you to add your name to it. Our letter to the leaders will call upon them to whip their benches to vote for the NHS amendment. We need your help to show how many of us care about this by signing it now.

Like in the House of Commons, Lords and Baronesses in the House of Lords tend to vote along party lines. But members of the House of Lords also tend to be receptive to evidence and persuasion, and our letter lays out the top ways this amendment protects your NHS! 

Our letter aims to do two things: (i) present the leaders of each of the groups with arguments for supporting the NHS amendment, which we hope will persuade them to (ii) whip their benches to back the amendment when it comes to a vote.

The amendment was debated last week but we need to prepare for the vote in TWO WEEKS!. This means we have just two weeks to make sure the NHS amendment passes and the letter is key to getting it done. We need thousands of people to become signatories to our letter and that is why we need you to sign the letter and share it with all your networks.

Protecting our NHS has never been more urgent. Regardless of what happens in the US elections in 26 days, the US healthcare industry and Big pharma will continue to target our NHS, with the US government's help. Democrats and Republicans have recieved over $34million each from the US healthcare industry since 2018. So, whether Donald Trump wins or Joe Biden unseats him, our NHS remains at risk to trade deals, and we cannot trust Boris Johnson to stand up for it.

You have all invested a great amount of effort into the fight to protect our NHS in future trade deals over the last few months. Thank you so much for all your work. We can win this!
