Friends,
In 10 days, young people and adults will strike all across the US and world to demand transformative action be taken to address the climate crisis. Are you ready to join us??
Here is everything you need to know about the DC Strike and the local Week of Action:
We’re making posters TONIGHT.
September 10, 7 p.m., Patrick Henry Library, 101 Maple Ave E, Vienna.
Join 350 Fairfax, Audubon Naturalist Society, and Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions for a Climate Strike poster-making session. Come learn about why we're striking, make beautiful protest art, and meet fellow strikers. We’ll provide supplies, snacks, and sign ideas. RSVP for poster making here.
NOVA environmental groups will meet up before the DC Strike.
September 20, 10:45 a.m., National Building Museum, 401 F St NW, Washington, DC.
The start location of the DC Strike has moved to John Marshall Park, so we will now be meeting at the National Building Museum, across the street from the Judiciary Square Metro. Look for big Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions and Mothers Out Front banners. RSVP here or on Facebook.
These are the essential DC Strike details.
September 20, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., John Marshall Park, Washington, DC.
We’ll march from John Marshall Park to the Capitol Building. Find more info here.
Here are three more ways to support the Youth Climate Movement.
- Be a good ally. The strikers have put together a great guide on the adult role in this youth-led day of action.
- Donate. Organizing the largest global climate mobilization in history costs money. Use this site to donate to the DC Strike effort.
- Spread the word. Use this social media toolkit to let folks know why we’re marching.
It’s not just a day of action. It’s a Global Week of Action.
Fossil Free Fairfax Petition Drive, September 21–22, various times and locations.
350 Fairfax is committed to demanding real solutions to the climate crisis in Fairfax County. We’re asking the Board of Supervisors to commit to a just transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050 and to a ban on new fossil fuel infrastructure in the county. The weekend of September 21 and 22, we'll be at two farmers markets and three libraries across the county collecting petition signatures for Fossil Free Fairfax. Sign up to help here.
If you've been waiting for your moment to join the movement, this is it. We'll see you out there.
