Joe Biden’s free college plan could pay for itself within 10 years, Georgetown University analysis says
From MarketWatch
As part of his campaign for president, the Democratic nominee, Joe Biden, has vowed to make college free for a large swath of American families, but he hasn’t said much about how much that plan would cost. A report released Tuesday by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce offers some insight.
Researchers estimate that Biden’s plan would cost taxpayers $49.6 billion in its first year, with the federal government paying $33.1 billion and states spending $16.5 billion. But the plan would pay for itself, the report finds, because yearly tax revenue generated as a result of the free college program would outweigh the annual cost within the first 10 years.

Updates and Fast Facts from John Hickenlooper for Senate
|
THIS WEEK ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL:
The debate showed a clear contrast between John's proven leadership and vision for the future and Senator Gardner’s flailing and false attacks because he can’t defend his own record of selling out Colorado for his special interest donors and Donald Trump. John highlighted Senator Gardner’s decade-long crusade to overturn the Affordable Care Act and lies to Coloradans about his record on gutting protections for those with pre-existing conditions: “The cruelest lie of all, it’s that Cory Gardner says he has a plan to protect people with pre-existing conditions.”
You can read a recap of what Colorado reporters are saying here. And watch John’s closing statement from Friday’s debate below:
|
After the debate, Pueblo leaders including former Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Senate President Leroy Garcia, and state Representative Bri Buentello said John was clearly the best candidate to go to Washington to help us rebuild after COVID. Read their statements HERE.
All Star Lineup for Hick-A-Palooza Brings Ban-joy
John joined a slate of incredible musicians such as Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson and Bonnie Raitt for Wednesday’s Hick-A-Palooza, a virtual concert in support of John’s campaign to bring change to the U.S. Senate. The show featured performances from a range of artists and genres – even John pulled out his banjo to strum a few chords.

Virtual Phone Bank with the Sierra Club
Yesterday, John and the Colorado Chapter of the Sierra Club hosted a virtual phone bank to get out the vote. The Colorado Sierra Club and other *actual* environmental organizations have endorsed John because they know he’s the only candidate who will act on climate change and protect our public lands.

Candidate: State Rep. Brianna Titone
https://www.briannaforco.com/
Office Running for: State Representative (HD27)
Why this matters: Brianna has always felt compelled to serve her community. She knows that serving as the State Representative for HD 27 is the best way to do this. As a society, we have been drifting apart and settling in our 'political boxes'. We tend to dismiss people too quickly, because of political affiliation, age, economic circumstance, religion, skin color, gender identity, sexual preference, etc. Brianna believes that there are many things that we can find in common with each other, and around that intersectionality we will come together and build a better sense of community.
Connect with Brianna on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Candidate: Andy Kerr
https://kerrforjeffco.com/
Office Running for: Jefferson County Commissioner
Why this matters: Andy Kerr is a father, husband, teacher, longtime policy leader, dog lover, and much, much more. He's running for commissioner to make sure Jefferson County remains one of Colorado's best places to live, work, play, and raise a family. Like so many in Colorado, Andy did a little bit of everything as he began his career. He worked as a snowboard instructor, waiter, bartender, and substitute teacher before getting a permanent job as a social studies teacher at Dunstan Middle School, where he taught for seven years. He then designed curriculum and trained teachers for Jeffco Public Schools, and now teaches kids across the county through the district’s 21st Century Online Learning Academy.

Pueblo Chieftain: DMB for CD3!
|
Third Congressional District: Our choice
From The Pueblo Chieftain
But as far as making our choice this year as to who to endorse, we think there is a clear choice, and that is Diane Mitsch Bush.
We got to know Mitsch Bush two years ago when she ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Republican Scott Tipton, who decided not to run this year. During that campaign, our editorial board met with her, and she also participated in a Chieftain debate with Tipton. We were impressed with her experience (more on that in a moment) and her willingness to work across the aisle with Republican colleagues to get things done.

LETTER: Send Jason Crow Back to Congress
for Another Term!
|
LETTER: Sense of service, sense of humor make Jason Crow invaluable in Congress
In the Aurora Sentinel
I met Jason Crow when he gave his first pitch to run against Mike Coffman for the CD6 US Congressional seat. He was new to politics but had done a lot of work for veterans as he is a veteran himself. His personal story was a good one, working class family, put himself through college and joined the military after 9/11, exiting with a Bronze Star. A solid family man with two young children and a law degree. There was something special about him. His authenticity and sincere desire to serve the country, to help families live better, less stressful lives won me over and I became a fervent supporter and volunteer for his campaign.

Grand Junction Sentinel Roasts Boebert
|
Colorado District 3
From the GJ Sentinel Editorial Board
Boebert, the GOP candidate, failed the first test of public service, which is to be accountable to the people. If she wants to represent us in Washington, D.C., she has to be willing to answer questions. She wants to tell us who she is and what she stands for by serving up platitudes instead of delving into policy specifics. Perhaps this is intentional because she’s never held elected office and she just doesn’t know her stuff.

Join the Elbow Bumpers Club!
|
What's the Elbow Bumpers Club (formerly known as the High Fivers Club), you ask? It started with a simple idea: There are nearly 1.2 million registered Democrats in Colorado -- what if every single one of them gave just $5 a month to the Colorado Democratic Party (CDP)?
Answer: The CDP would be the best-funded state party in the country -- with zero dollars from corporate PACs and plenty for flipping red seats to blue!
