John,
Nestlé wants to keep pumping up to 65 million gallons of water a year from
a spring in Colorado. But a group of local residents is fighting back
against the greedy corporate giant.
In just 13 days, county officials will hold their first hearing to decide
if Nestlé’s permit to keep pumping from Ruby Mountain Springs should be
renewed. Locals need your help, to make sure their demands are impossible
to ignore.
Can you help them, John?

Springs from Nestlé’s greed!
Ruby Mountain Springs is located in Chaffee County, a mountain community
of about 20,000 people who depend on the area’s natural resources for
their livelihoods.
In recent years, Colorado has been grappling with extreme chronic drought
conditions and relentless, near-record heatwaves. But despite these new
and disturbing climate changes, Nestlé wants to continue plundering Ruby
Mountain Springs’ water in order to sell it back to consumers for a giant
profit.
Now in two short weeks, the county's commissioners will hold two hearings
about whether to allow Nestlé to keep doing business as usual and suck up
this beloved spring. They’re paying close attention to the public's
growing outrage.

Ruby Mountain Springs.
SumOfUs members like you have shown that when we come together to take on
Nestlé, we win. Together we stood with community activists and helped win
a nine-year battle in Cascade Locks, Oregon, killing off Nestlé’s plans to
start pumping there.
And when the tiny township of Osceola, Michigan was on the verge of
bankruptcy while locked in a legal battle with Nestlé, the SumOfUs
community came to their aid and raised over $50,000 to give them a
fighting chance.

Springs now!
This fight is not just about Colorado's water. Nestlé announced this
summer that it is considering selling all of its water assets in North
America. Already, Nestlé has sold all its bottling operations in Canada,
and a victory against Nestlé in Colorado could be the last nudge that
would kick Nestlé out of the US all together.
