In May 2020, OutRight Action International published our pioneering report, Vulnerability Amplified: The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on LGBTIQ People, documenting stories from nearly 60 people in 38 countries about the ways in which COVID-19 was affecting their lives and livelihoods. This research has been featured in countless media outlets and shared with governments, funders, and relief agencies around the world to amplify the voices and experiences of LGBTIQ communities in this time of crisis.
OutRight also launched the Global COVID-19 LGBTIQ Emergency Fund, which has distributed $1 million to 115 LGBTIQ organizations in 60 countries to date. When the research and emergency fund were launched, our communities were already facing major challenges such as disproportionate levels of food insecurity, barriers to health care, and upticks in domestic and state-sponsored violence and discrimination due to COVID-19 and related containment measures.
Join us for a compelling conversation on October 14 with LGBTIQ activists from around the world to hear how our communities are faring more than six months later. We’ll also provide an update on the impacts of the Emergency Fund so far.
This webinar is one installment in our weekly OutTalks series, featuring LGBTIQ leaders and allies from around the world discussing important topics and trends in our global movement. Please find a full listing of upcoming events here, and join us!
