New video of climber Alex Honnold's endorsement
of Energy Innovation Act

Since the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act was introduced, one of the biggest endorsements for the legislation has come from professional climber Alex Honnold, famous for being the first person to scale Yosemite National Park’s El Capitan without the use of ropes.

Alex’s heart-stopping feat was captured in the Academy Award-winning documentary “Free Solo.” An avid climate activist, Alex used his new-found celebrity to give a boost to the carbon-pricing bill CCL is supporting.

We’ve put together an exciting, short video of Alex’s endorsement featuring scenes of his exploits along with his words:

“Fighting climate change is a lot like physical training: you just have to build up for it, you have to practice. The U.S. legislature in general right now is grossly under-trained. You know, you got to start small. Start practicing a little bit, stretch, limber up. And I think basically anything we can do to reduce carbon emissions is a step in the right direction. And this bill is that first step."

Grasstops: Invitation and shoutout from MP

It’s nice to have friends in high places, and CCL International Outreach Manager Cathy Orlando and daughter Sophia Mathur clearly do. They received an invitation from Canadian Member of Parliament Marc Serré to attend an online event with parliamentarians in the Americas last week. He later gave them a shoutout on Twitter. This was a great example of the relationship-building Cathy and Sophia have done over the years with Canadian lawmakers.

CCL volunteers are regularly activating the “five levers” of political will in their communities. If you’d like to learn more about how to pull the grasstops lever like these CCLers did, watch or read this training on Engaging Community Leaders.
