Hi John, Despite heavy lobbying from the chemical industry, the federal government reaffirmed its commitment to tackling plastic pollution. John, you took action and your voice was heard! This morning, the federal government released a list of single-use plastics to be banned next year and expressed its intention to manage plastic production, use, and disposal using the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA). This is a crucial moment in Canada’s plan to fight the plastic pollution crisis. But there is still work to be done. The chemical industry will continue to push back on the federal government’s plans to reduce plastic pollution in Canada. We must stay vigilant and make sure the federal government does not cave to industry pressure. The actions taken by the federal government over the coming months will be critical. We’ll stay on top of it and be sure to update you on the next steps soon. But today, I would like to thank you for joining us and taking action. Your support has helped Canada move a step closer to zero plastic waste. Yours in solidarity, |
