John --
Join us TODAY at 1:00 p.m. Central Time via Facebook Live for the annual Harvest of the Sacred Ponca Corn:
Bold's Jane Kleeb and Tom Genung are headed out to Art & Helen Tanderup's farm right now, along with representatives from the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska, and a handful of Pipeline Fighters.
They'll be masking up and socially-distanced to harvest this year's crop of Ponca corn, grown on Ponca Nation land, along the historic Trail of Tears and in the path of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
Art and the harvest crew will first go live on Facebook at 1pm from the farmhouse -- and then we'll also post additional live videos to the event page when folks are out picking in the field, so you can get the first look at this year's corn harvest.
If you haven't yet heard about how the Tanderup family and the Ponca people have collaborated for years to plant this medicine for Mother Earth on the Ponca's historic homeland in Nebraska, it's a beautiful story.
ALSO, REMINDER: Public comments on TransCanada's new applications to the Army Corps of Engineers for permits to build Keystone XL across U.S. waterways are due October 13th.
If you haven't already, sign onto Bold's comment, or submit your own comment opposing the KXL water permits.
Thank you to everyone who dialed-in to the telephone-based public hearings last week! Over 175 folks testified against the permits over three days, and it was amazing to get to hear so many familiar voices from farmers, ranchers, Tribes, and Pipeline Fighters!
Please join us virtually today at 1pm CT for the Ponca Sacred Corn Harvest!
