Tonight, I’ll be pitching my vision for Georgia families on the debate stage as I face off against my opponent, Rich McCormick.
I want to be very clear: While I speak directly to our community on the issues that matter, tonight Rich McCormick will be performing for a different set of eyes.
Rich McCormick is a far-right conspiracy theorist and extremist backed by Washington super PAC money and DC insiders. The rhetoric he will use tonight will mirror the rhetoric he has used this whole cycle: It will be riddled with falsehoods for political gain.
That’s the strategy he employed when he abused his position as a doctor to align himself with Trump and downplay the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, even as cases surged in his own home county.
That’s the strategy he utilized as he made appearances on far-right YouTube channels to align himself with conspiracy theories like QAnon, which was labeled a domestic terror threat by the FBI and condemned by the House he’s seeking to be a part of.
And that’s the strategy he will use tonight as he lies to your face and tells you he won’t gut protections for pre-existing conditions and allow drug companies to increase prescription drug costs -- even though he’s funded by the corporate interests who plan to do just that.
Friend, the choice in this election is clear. I hope you’ll see that at tonight’s debate -- and if my message resonates with you, I hope you’ll chip in to power my campaign for Georgia families.
