Friend,

Two Supreme Court Justices recently called for overturning the legalization of marriage equality.

It’s been more than five years since the Obergefell v. Hodges decision legalized marriage between same-sex couples nationwide. This was a fight that I started working on when I first joined the Attorney General’s Office. This is personal to me – as I know it is for many of you.

I’m furious that Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, emboldened by a lawless president, would cruelly call for this landmark decision to be overturned. Their words will serve as a rallying cry for Republicans – who already include overturning marriage equality in their party’s platform – to begin chipping away at the rights afforded by Obergefell.

These moves could jeopardize the marriages of hundreds of thousands of Americans and prevent even more couples from legally marrying in the future.

We need to elect officials up and down the ballot who will be unyielding in their commitment to protecting and expanding LGBTQ+ rights in the face of these despicable threats. I’ve been committed to this fight since day one and I’m not backing down now.
