John,

The opioid epidemic is a national crisis that is touching families all across the country. Here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, we’re no strangers to this heartbreak. In 2017, our Commonwealth saw the third-highest rate of death due to drug overdose in the nation.

Thousands and thousands of families are suffering at the hands of a growing opioid epidemic. That’s thousands and thousands of families who could benefit from access to treatment, rehabilitation, and local educational resources.

I was proud to recently secure federal funding for opioid treatment in Northeastern Pennsylvania. With this investment, the Wright Center will work with Maternal and Family Health Services Inc., Lackawanna/Susquehanna Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs and Wayne County Drug and Alcohol Commission to expand access to opioid treatment in rural communities.

But to put an end to opioid deaths for good -- in our community and EVERY community -- Congress must do more.

This can’t wait, John: Sign your name right now to demand action to end the opioid epidemic >> [[link removed]]

Helping families face and recover from the opioid crisis is going to be challenging. We won’t be able to fix it with one bill, one measure, or one action. This is going to require an all-of-the-above approach from multiple pieces of legislation and from all members of Congress.

I’ve made it a top priority to help our country combat this public health emergency. But this is why you sent me to Washington. To fight for our families, for our communities, and for you.

I can’t thank you enough for helping me do it.

-- Matt
