Hey Swing Left,
There are roughly 672 hours until Election Day, and we’re making every single hour count by channeling our energy into the places where it will move the needle most.
So every Thursday and Sunday, we’re having Swing Left Call Nights where volunteers come together to all make calls into one Super State that needs our help most. And this Thursday, we’re calling voters in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is an urgent priority. Leading independent elections experts at FiveThirtyEight say Pennsylvania is the “tipping point” state for the Electoral College, meaning it’s most likely to determine who wins the presidency in a close election. So if we want Trump out of the White House, we need to win Pennsylvania. But recent changes to voting rules have made it extra confusing to vote by mail, so we need to help these critical voters cast their ballots.
John, can you join us in making calls to PA voters this Thursday at 5:30pm ET? Every Call Night will start with a hands-on phone banking training, so if you’re unfamiliar with calling voters or what’s been going on in Pennsylvania, you can get the information you need before you start talking to voters.

One big reason we need to make calls is the problem with so-called “naked” ballots. Mail ballots in Pennsylvania come with two envelopes: one for mailing, and an inner “secrecy” envelope to protect voters’ privacy. But a court just ruled that if voters forget to use the secrecy envelope, their ballots can be disqualified.
We know that Democrats are more likely to vote by mail this year, so this could cost Joe Biden and Kamala Harris thousands of votes. We can’t afford to let that happen in a state Trump won by less than 44,000 votes in 2016.
The GOP-controlled state legislature won’t fix this rule because they know they can’t win without suppressing the vote. We have to fight back by educating voters and making sure every Democratic ballot counts.
