Team —

Today, Congress is back in session with an opportunity to take action after a number of mass shootings this summer.

I don't know how many more times America has to wake up to stories of killings in schools, places of worship, movie theaters, bars, concerts... the list is endless. But this is normal in our America, and it’s heartbreaking.

Weapons of war are being used to take innocent lives and the inaction from Washington is a moral failure — especially when the vast majority of Americans, including gun owners like myself, are demanding Congress finally confront gun violence like the public health crisis it is.

Six months ago, the Democratic-led House passed bipartisan legislation to expand background checks to all gun sales. Now, it’s on Mitch McConnell to allow a Senate vote so we can get it to the president’s desk.

Join me to demand Mitch McConnell schedule a vote on common-sense gun safety legislation that would help end this epidemic in America.

We know what the solutions are. From expanding background checks to banning high-capacity magazines to funding research — the American people support what is already on the table.

But Mitch McConnell is too deep in the gun lobby's pocket to move forward with any of it. He should be ashamed of himself.

I won't mince words with you, folks: Every single day we fail to act means more lives are lost. If all Washington does is agree to disagree on gun violence, then we have failed to provide the kind of leadership the American people are demanding from us.

Too many politicians in Washington simply lack the courage to act. Not me.

This is a national emergency, and we must work together to end it. Please join me in calling on Mitch McConnell to allow a vote on common-sense gun reform so we can finally start saving lives.

Every day, communities across our country face heartbreaking losses due to gun violence. We have a moral responsibility in Congress to step up, work together, and address this epidemic. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. It's time to act.

Thank you, as always, for fighting for what's right.
