*Governor Parson Attends Ribbon Cutting Event at Missouri Western State University*

*(JEFFERSON CITY, MO) * Today, Governor Mike Parson attended a ribbon cutting event at Missouri Western State University (MWSU) to celebrate the completion of its Center for Excellence in Applied Health Care Learning (CEAHL).

MWSU received a grant of more than $550,000 from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Developments MoExcels Workforce Initiative to establish the CEAHL. The facility will house the Mosaic Life Care Auxiliary Community Lab and expand MWSUs nursing program to increase the number of graduates receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing by 15 percent.

Since the beginning of my administration, we have focused on workforce development initiatives to prepare our workforce for the jobs of the future, said *Governor Parson*. This projects completion showcases the strength of public and private partners joining together to develop a skilled Missouri workforce.

Were excited to celebrate with Missouri Western State University on the opening of its new Center for Excellence in Applied Healthcare Learning (CEAHL), said*Commissioner of Higher Education Zora Mulligan*. By providing greater access to health care education and training opportunities, this center will play an important role in the Saint Joseph community, as well as helping to meet state and regional workforce needs.

A key requirement to qualify for the MoExcels grant is to match the public funds with those from local partners. Mosaic Life Care, Mosaic Life Care Auxiliary, the Mosaic Life Care Foundation, and the Missouri Western State University Foundation all contributed to match the MoExcels grant funds for this project.

The MoExcels Workforce Initiative was created to promote workforce development initiatives and support local workforce development needs. The MoExcels Workforce Initiative has supported nearly $18 million in workforce development projects across the state.
