Should a Supreme Court Justice Be Appointed During an Election Season? ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Hello John,

This semester has been a time like no other for students returning to school, whether their education is in-person or virtual. To help students remain engaged in current events during this time, the Bill of Rights Institute has been releasing a new Think the Vote debate question every Monday during the lead up to the presidential election on November 3.

Through this platform, students have been engaging critically with each other on the most pressing current events of the week. Having a platform to practice civil discourse during an election year and a time of social distancing is perhaps never more critical!

There has been a great deal of debate in the last week over the topic of nominating and confirming a new Supreme Court justice. The main issue has been whether the process should occur now, or be postponed until after the presidential election. This week, we are asking students to weigh in on the issue: Should a Supreme Court justice be appointed during an election season? ([link removed])

Students with the best answers on both sides of the debate each win an Amazon gift card, BRI themed swag, and are entered for a chance to win $1,000. Make sure your students designate you as their referring teacher so you have a chance to win prizes of your own!

Warmly,

Gary Colletti
