This is a really hard email to write.

I’m critically short of my midnight fundraising goal.

In just 11 hours I will be forced to cut my digital outreach budget.

I know that the endless dark money, corporate interests and Trump’s wealthy cronies give them the advantage.

But my mom didn’t raise me to give up when things get hard.

It wasn’t easy for her to immigrate to America and raise four kids on her own.

It wasn’t easy for me to sleep on the floor until college or for my sisters and I to have to rely on the free lunch program at school.

But my mom refused to give up and worked to give us every opportunity possible. She saw her children become Harvard graduates. Saw her daughter become a doctor and her son a United States Congressman.

So I know what is possible even when the deck is stacked against you.

I refuse to surrender to the GOP’s power and I’m asking for your help: Will you chip in $5 to close the budget gap and give us a fighting chance?
