Friends,

Congress reconvenes this week after a busy August filled with stops across Arkansas. I meet folks year-round at my office in Washington, but the extended August work period gives me and my staff the chance to visit more Arkansans at home. From Rogers to Jonesboro and Mountain Home to Little Rock, I met with manufacturers, healthcare providers, educators, law-enforcement officers, and many more of you who are working hard to build and improve communities in our state. Your thoughts, ideas, and concerns will continue to guide my work in Congress. Below you’ll find a brief recap of some of my activities this past month. As always, it’s an honor to represent every Arkansan in the United States Senate, and I look forward to continuing to hear from you. Be sure to visit me on Twitter or Facebook to learn more about how I’m working on your behalf.

                                   Manufacturing Tours

This August I toured several manufacturing facilities, and by all accounts business is steady. Arkansas’s unemployment rate is lower than the national average and Arkansas manufacturers continue to hire across our state. Thank you to the folks at Hytrol, SIG SAUER, Spartan Mowers, and Baxter International for letting me learn more about your facilities and operations.

Healthcare in Arkansas

Arkansas’s healthcare professionals provide devoted care to the communities they serve, and I was very impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities in Jonesboro, Little Rock, and Conway. Thank you to the dedicated healthcare providers all across Arkansas who work every day to improve the lives and health of Arkansans!

Visiting With Arkansas Educators

Whether it’s a two-year program at a technical school or a four-year college education, Arkansas’s higher-education institutions are working hard to prepare students for successful careers in the workforce. The educators at NorthArk Technical Center in Harrison and ASU Mountain Home care deeply about providing their students with a solid foundation of knowledge so they can become productive workers and citizens.

                                   Law Enforcement Stops

Arkansas’s law-enforcement professionals are on the front lines in the battle against drugs and crime. Their bravery and sacrifice keep our communities safe. It was an honor to visit with officers in Little Rock and Rogers and to present a few of them with awards for their exceptional work fighting crime in our state.

                           Business Roundtables and More

Local Arkansas officials and business leaders are working hard to help their hometowns and neighbors, but sometimes Washington can get in the way. In a series of roundtables this August, I heard from community and business leaders about what kind of support they need at the federal level to make sure their towns are good places to call home.
