John,
Yesterday, two Supreme Court Justices called for reexamining Obergefell v. Hodges, the landmark decision for marriage equality, stating it has "ruinous consequences for religious liberty." And if that wasn't enough, Amy Coney Barrett’s extremist anti-LGBTQ record is one of the worst we've ever seen . Her appointment to the United States Supreme Court would dismantle LGBTQ equality. She:
*
Defended
the
dissenters
in
Obergefell
v.
Hodges
and
argued
against
marriage
equality;
*
Took
donations
from
hate
groups
that
support
the
recriminalization
of
homosexuality
in
the
United
States;
*
Stated
that
“marriage
and
family
[is]
founded
on
the
indissoluble
commitment
of
a
man
and
a
woman”;
*
Suggested
Title
IX
should
be
reviewed
by
lawmakers
because
it
is
used
to
defend
trans
Americans;
and
*
Misgendered
trans
people
over
the
course
of
her
career,
including
referring
to
trans
women
as
“physiological
males.”
We're terrified that Barrett and the other justices will destroy Justice Ginsberg’s legacy on LGBTQ equality. We're fighting to ensure the next President appoints the FIRST LGBTQ Supreme Court Justice during their term to balance anti-LGBTQ judges and protect LGBTQ rights. Help power our Presidential Appointments Initiative so we can appoint LGBTQ judges to the Supreme Court and other federal courts! [[link removed]]
