We grow up in and live in a society full of discrimination, where many harmful ideas are absorbed into us. Even our movement for animal liberation is a microcosm of society at large. In this week's Meetup: Combating Speciesism within Society and Ourselves, we will be discussing speciesism, how it manifests in our lives, in the movement, and most obviously, in our society. Alicia Santurio will the presenter this week. Alicia has many close relationships with nonhuman animals and runs a microsanctuary with her parents. Sunday, October 11th, 5 PM: Community Discussion on Masculinity - The Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community are facing increased anti-AAPI racism nationwide in light of the COVID19 outbreak. More folks in the community however are documenting, speaking out, and fighting back. Join Nelson and Rocky as they co-facilitate our experiences navigating this society in this climate and how we can be resilient in the face of anti-AAPI bigotry. We will read a passage and discuss it but this is an open forum so please come with any thoughts and inputs you want to share.
