President Trump returned to the White House this evening, removing his mask on the balcony upon arrival
President Trump on Monday left the hospital where he had been receiving an unprecedented level of care for COVID-19, immediately igniting a new controversy by declaring that despite his illness, the nation should not be afraid of the virus that has killed more than 210,000 Americans.

Trump walked out of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and into a waiting vehicle on Monday evening, giving a thumbs-up to cameras. Marine One landed at the White House just as the sun was setting.

He then walked upstairs to the South Portico balcony, took off his mask and stuffed it in his pocket, and flashed a double thumbs-up to the cameras. He saluted as he watched the helicopter lift back off. He walked into the White House without putting his mask back on.
