LAPPL In The News Last week the League continued to aggressively speak out against the unprovoked attack on our officer at the Harbor Division Station as well as publicly criticize public officials that refuse to publicly demonstrate support for LAPD Officers. Additionally, we took to the airwaves to support Proposition 20, which will fix the criminal friendly Prop 57 "early release" law that promotes a revolving door criminal justice system. Some selected clips are below: Craig Lally Discusses Attack on Officer at Harbor Division Video shows attack on LA officer inside police station Craig Lally, president of the union that represents rank-and-file LAPD officers, said the attack inside the police station — “which is our home” — was among the most horrific incidents he's seen in his career. “Even if he didn’t get in, he probably would have waited outside the doors for an officer to come outside,” Lally said. AP/Yahoo News Man Charged With Attempted Murder of 2 Officers in Harbor Police Station Attack A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder of two police officers after he was accused of pistol-whipping an officer inside a Los Angeles police station in San Pedro, and firing shots at a second officer. Robert Harris, director with the Los Angeles Police Protective League, says watching the video is both disturbing and should be a reality check for all. “I know there are people in society that say, 'This is what you signed up for.' No, this is not what we signed up for. We are a reflection of the communities we serve -- attack on us is an attack on the community,” Harris said. NBC 4 Video Director Robert Harris Debates Prop 20 LAPPL Director Robert Harris debates takes up the YES side in the debate on Proposition 20, the initiative that seeks to address the flaws in the "early release" law of Prop 57 as well as amending some components of Prop 47. KPCC AirTalk Find Your Command Voice LAPD officers almost blinded by lasers. Two LASD deputies shot. Two Louisville police officers shot. One of our own assaulted in the Harbor Police Station. Make no mistake about it, the attacks on law enforcement are real and are getting more frequent. Some of these attacks are being partially fueled by those in political and appointed leadership positions who refuse to strongly condemn these attacks or call for the swift apprehension and strong prosecution of those who now feel it is OK to kill, attempt to kill or hurt police officers. It’s sickening.
