Indivisibles,

It’s been an incredibly tense week in the news, but instead of getting
distracted, we’re even more focused on our priorities. The real story is
that while Election Day (Election Week, really) might be in less than 30
days, the election is happening right now.

More than 2 million people voted in September -- we expect that number to
multiply in the next few days as more people start receiving their ballots
and early voting kicks off in states around the country. [ [link removed] ]If you haven’t
already, we encourage you to verify your voter registration status and
make a plan to vote by mail or safely in-person. Click here for all the
details you need to cast your vote.

Meanwhile, Trump’s enablers in the Senate are still planning to hold
hearings to confirm a new Supreme Court justice starting October 12,
despite adjourning for regular business, like COVID-19 relief, until
October 19. That kind of hypocritical and partisan leadership is why we’re
working harder than ever to vote out Trump and his GOP buddies. Last week,
Indivisibles all over the country showed the Senate how it’s done by
participating in our third Week of Action. Amid all the chaos,
Indivisibles pushed through 359 events, made 563,069 phone calls, and
texted voters in key states like Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina. We
couldn’t be prouder of your resilience and initiative as we enter the most
critical period before the election.

Let’s get to work, here are your weekly to-dos:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Your weekly to-dos

 1. [ [link removed] ]Pledge to Protect the Results if Trump refuses to accept the result
of the election. If there’s one thing Trump wants us to know, it’s
that he won’t go quietly. Just last week, he called on a far-right
neo-fascist group to be at the ready on election night -- not exactly
in the spirit of a peaceful transition of power. We’re ready to
mobilize ahead of a potential constitutional crisis if Trump refuses
to accept the results of the election.
 2. [ [link removed] ]Call your Senators and demand that they refuse to confirm any new
Supreme Court Justices until we have a new president and shut down the
hearings to prevent a public health disaster. Trump and Mitch
McConnell didn’t miss a beat when they said they would rush to confirm
Amy Coney Barrett -- even if it puts everyone in harm’s way. This
isn’t about politics: seeing as two members of the Judiciary Committee
have tested positive, the only responsible course of action is to
prioritize public health by shutting down these hearings and
quarantine. [ [link removed] ]After you call, make sure to continue to take action
using our save SCOTUS hub here.
 3. [ [link removed] ]Sign up to phonebank with Windivisible to help grow our movement
and drive voter turnout. You can get started by watching this training
[ [link removed] ]video to help you navigate phonebanking so you can start making
calls this week.
 4. [ [link removed] ]Find more ways to make an impact on the outcome of the election by
taking a look at this list of action items. We put out this list when
we still had 50 days to go before Election Day. Now, with less than 30
days before November 3, make sure you and the people you care about
are doing everything you can to send Trump and his friends in the
Senate packing.

 2020 Update

We’re gearing up for Wednesday night’s Vice Presidential debate between
future VP, Sen. Kamala Harris, and current VP Mike Pence. With Trump
currently in the hospital after contracting COVID-19, a life-threatening
illness that has taken the lives of over 1 million people worldwide, the
VP debates will demonstrate just how vital a VP pick is. Here’s what we’ll
be looking for in Wednesday’s debate:

* As head of the White House’s Coronavirus Task Force, we expect Mike
Pence to answer for his handling of the coronavirus outbreak. Keep
your ears open for a hamfisted spin on the millions of infections,
200,000+ deaths, testing snafus, and recession-era unemployment rates
as a successful response to the pandemic.
* We’re looking forward to Sen. Harris bringing progressive values like
criminal justice reform, the climate, and healthcare to the forefront.
Harris will have no trouble contrasting a Biden/Harris approach to
addressing these issues with the failures of the Trump/Pence
administration.
* Harris will also need to unequivocally call out the sham nomination
process to fill the vacant SCOTUS seat. We expect her to speak to Amy
Coney Barret’s lack of experience and partisan views on healthcare,
immigrant rights, and LGBTQ issues.

The GOP is still moving ahead with ACB’s nomination

We can’t let Trump build a decades-long ultra-conservative majority on the
Supreme Court. But Senate Republicans are ignoring COVID-19 relief and all
our other priorities in order to push ahead on from confirming Amy Coney
Barrett. This fall, we must elect a president and senators who will
protect the integrity of the judiciary.

We already needed to raise over $1.4 million to fund our election plans.
Now we’re pouring resources into a historic Supreme Court battle: we added
$285,000 to expand our peer-to-peer texting program, $65,000 in direct
support to candidates, and an extra $20,000 spend on ads last week alone
-- not to mention hundreds of hours of staff time. We rely on grassroots
support to fund our work: [ [link removed] ]donate $10 today to fund all the resources
we need to win in November, protect the Supreme Court and democracy, and
support all our work.

 Indivisible's "State of Joe"

[ [link removed] ][IMG]

This week, we want to shout-out the Indivisibles who participated in our
Writing Marathon that took place over the weekend. This event was
massively successful -- you wrote a total of 2,535 postcards/letters
(beating our goal of 2,000!) that will reach voters in critical states all
over the country. It’s this kind of turnout that reminds us that, when we
come together, we have the power to make a real impact on the outcome of
this election.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
