You’re invited to join the SPLC for a panel discussion on the rise of fascism and the role that fascist propaganda plays in the success of extremist leaders and ideologies. SPLC Senior Fellow Eric Ward will moderate the panel, which features Michael Edison Hayden, an investigative reporter for the SPLC’s Intelligence Project and Jason Stanley, an author and Jacob Urowsky Professor of Philosophy at Yale University.
In his 2018 book How Fascism Works, Jason Stanley details how the propagandistic cult of personality surrounding President Trump is reminiscent of fascist movements from history. Michael Edison Hayden’s work includes investigations into neo-Nazi and far-right propagandists and their impact on our political landscape. During this live discussion, the panelists will take a deep dive into the recent influx of fascist propaganda and its grave consequences for our democracy.
The discussion will take place on Friday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. In the wake of President Trump’s refusal to condemn white supremacist groups and militias, we hope you will join us for a timely and deeply necessary discussion about the impacts of modern fascist propaganda.
