John,
Every year, 22,274 people in the U.S. die from suicide by a gun.
Every year, 590 children and teens die from suicide by a gun.
Half of all suicides in the United States are firearm suicides.
The presence of a gun in the home increases the risk of suicide by 300%.
This week is National Suicide Prevention Week. By having the courage to talk about guns and suicide, we honor the lives of those we have lost, and we protect the lives of those who remain.
Brady works year-round to prevent firearm suicides. Can you make a contribution today to fund our lifesaving work?
Here’s what we’re doing at Brady to prevent gun suicides:
Brady’s End Family Fire program encourages the safe storage of guns in homes. Easy access to guns increases the risk that a momentary crisis will become deadly or that a friend or family member will access a gun and use it for self-harm.
Brady advocates for extreme risk laws, which create a way to temporarily remove guns from someone who is at risk of harming themselves or others.
Brady works with mental health professionals to ensure that the issue of guns is discussed in a meaningful way.
Brady relies on supporters like you to fund our suicide prevention efforts. Will you make a contribution today?
Thank you for your support,
The Team at Brady
