Concerns over Trump’s tax returns remain one of the biggest open questions of this administration. Last week, the New York Times reported that Trump received a $72.9 million tax refund in 2010, and the IRS audit of that refund has been the subject of a long-running battle between Trump and the agency. If the IRS auditors ultimately disallow the refund, the Times reported, Trump could owe more than $100 million.
American Oversight is doing what we can to promote transparency and accountability in this process. We filed a lawsuit against the IRS and the Treasury seeking records that could reveal if senior officials in the administration have interfered with the audit of Trump’s taxes.
