For the 9th straight month, gun sales have continued to skyrocket – and not only that, but permits to carry a concealed weapon have exploded to an incredible 19.48 million, which is a shocking increase of 34% increase over 2016. This is remarkable! We must take advantage of this incredible opportunity to make certain that every one of these new gun owners is a vote for the 2nd Amendment. It was Abraham Lincoln who wisely said that the “ballot is stronger than the bullet.” #GunVote
And the crazy just doesn’t stop out there – a 9 year old faces expulsion for having a BB gun in his room during a classroom Zoom call and California’s Attorney General Xavier Becerra thinks a crackdown on ghost guns will put a chill on crime. It won’t make a dent in criminal behavior, but it will clog up the courts.
Finally – in case you missed our last SOS email, Governor Gavin Newsom signed two anti-gun bills (and vetoed one) last week. Despite strong opposition from GOC, Newsom signed AB 2362 (gun store violations) and AB 2847 (microstamping). Read our executive director’s comments and additional details about each bill here.
