John,
Over 20 years ago, I found myself on the verge of death.
While 35 weeks pregnant, I went into labor with my first child. After 14 hours in labor, while suffering multiple seizures and fighting to hang onto my life, my beautiful, healthy daughter was delivered.
When I became pregnant with my second daughter, my husband, doctor, and I all sat down and discussed what this meant. We all very well knew that this pregnancy could leave me dead and my daughter without a mother.
I made the difficult choice to continue with the pregnancy. And when looking back at that decision, I am eternally grateful that I had the option to discuss other possibilities with my husband and my doctor.
And that's the way it should be.
Which is why the recent nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court sickens me.
Throughout her career as a federal judge, Judge Barrett has taken stridently anti-choice stances on numerous occasions. Even more disturbingly, she signed an anti-choice newspaper ad that not only expressed her opposition to abortion, but also insisted that life begins at fertilization (a position that would outlaw in vitro fertilization), and even supported the overturn of Roe v. Wade.
If Judge Barrett had her way, I would have been forced to continue my second pregnancy with little recourse if my health became endangered again.
With Judge Barrett now nominated to the Supreme Court, Roe and all it protects are in danger. If we are going to make sure we can keep making our own decisions about our bodies and our health, then we need politicians who will protect the right to choose with or without Roe.
Can you pitch in $5 or more to help send me to Congress to do just that? I promise to always defend the same choice I had for anyone who becomes pregnant.

For me, my daughters, and everyone else -- our bodies, our health, our choice.
Thank you,
Christy
