Hi John!
In 2000, LULAC created the Empower Hispanic America with Technology initiative [ [link removed] ] ,
which aims to empower the Latino community by increasing access to and utilizing
key telecommunication technologies that have historically been out of reach for
many Hispanic Americans. LULAC has sought to establish new and enhance existing
community technology centers in locations that serve low-income Hispanic
communities by providing equipment, broadband access, and classes and training to
further career and educational opportunities
Today we wanted to honor a fantastic Technology Instructor, Fernando Vidal, at
the LULAC National Educational Service Center (LNESC) center in Albuquerque since
2014 and teaches computer skills to high school students.
Fernando expresses how the technology center helps families from every background
and economic status and provides invaluable lessons and resources.
“Because no matter your race, or whether your family has money or not, we all
need to acquire specific knowledge in the computer world. Those students explain
that learning how to keep their assignments organized in google drive, learning
to work on spreadsheets, and other types of documents have boosted their
confidence, not only at school but in their daily life too.”
Our 68 technology centers nationwide would not be possible without supporters
like you! Keep the growth going and donate to our next tech center!
Here for you,
The LULAC National Team
