Two years ago today, I pledged to myself that I would do whatever I could to make sure Susan Collins did not win another term in the United State Senate. I know many of you felt the same way. Well, our chance to defeat Senator Collins and elect Sara Gideon is less than a month away. But we need to make sure the Maine Dems have all the resources they need to reach the finish line.

Maine means a great deal to me. My mom and her four brothers were born and raised in Portland. I grew up spending summers here, and we still have our family home in Maine. Mainers are tough, independent people who expect their elected officials to be accessible and to hear their concerns. But even after Mainers traveled to Washington to plead with Senator Collins to do the right thing, she chose to confirm Brett Kavanaugh. Even after Mainers warned her that Kavanaugh’s confirmation would put LGBTQ+ rights, the Affordable Care Act, and reproductive freedoms at risk, Senator Collins chose to trust Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell instead of the people she represents.
