Talk It Out: Let’s Talk Month
Every October, we celebrate the special relationship between young people and their champions through Let’s Talk Month. Throughout the month, we encourage everyone to have conversations about sex, love, relationships, and birth control. This year, we’re also recognizing the importance of having conversations on these topics with others, including peers, young people, and even ourselves.
Don’t wait to start talking! Check out resources from previous years’ Let’s Talk Month and start a conversation today.
Unpregnant
“Unpregnant” is a new comedy from HBOMax that follows a pair of ex-friends on their journey to get Veronica to the closest provider who will perform an abortion without her parents finding out. At age 17, Veronica is similar to the typical American high schooler in a lot of ways. But she also lives in Missouri—one of the 37 states in the US that requires some sort of parental involvement for minors who want an abortion.
In addition to being a funny, well-made movie, Veronica’s journey is an excellent opportunity to open a conversation with the young people in your life about sex, love, relationships, and birth control. From queer representation to showing what it means to truly be there for someone, “Unpregnant” is full of teachable moments regarding sex education.
Get Ready to Say #ThxBirthControl
On November 18, the nation celebrates #ThxBirthControl Day, 24-hours dedicated to acknowledging all the wonderful things birth control makes possible. Millions participate every year.
To help you celebrate the day, we’re pulling together a toolkit—including suggested social media language and a sneak peak of our digital postcards. You can also get ready for Thanks, Birth Control day by buying #ThxBirthControl merchandise in our store and making a tax-deductible donation.

RWB Team: Omaha, Nebraska
Earlier this year, we selected 8 teams from across the US to partner with us in implementing our reproductive well-being work within their communities. Reproductive well-being means that all people have the information, services, and support they need to have control over their bodies and to make their own decisions related to sexuality and reproduction throughout their lives.
In Omaha, the North Omaha community has been the epicenter of the city’s rich Black history and culture and is the section of town where most African Americans currently reside. Decades of segregation and systemic racism and disinvestment in this community has contributed to disparities in health outcomes including higher rates of preterm birth and infant mortality, and lower life expectancy.
Multiple community organizations and healthcare systems have been working hard to improve health outcomes in North Omaha. Team members are looking to expand on this work and reduce silos by creating a widespread community campaign and piloting a community health worker program focused on reproductive well-being.
Partnering with TherapeuticsMD
Power to Decide is partnering with TherapeuticsMD to educate women on the newest FDA approved contraceptive, Annovera. In the coming months, we will provide more information about Annovera on both the Power to Decide and Bedsider platforms as well as to our provider community. Power to Decide believes that all women should have the power to decide the best method that works for them, and we look forward to working with TherapeuticsMD to share information on this new method!
