The liberal leaders in Illinois have managed their budget poorly and are now forcing the costs onto taxpayers. The government has told voters they have two choices to pay for the budget deficit: more taxes or… more taxes. The state’s Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton warned that if voters don’t approve the constitutional amendment to raise the state income tax, all residents could see an income tax hike of at least 20%.

This comes at a time when people are still struggling to recover from the devastating job losses and economic downturn caused by the coronavirus. Illinois ALREADY has some of the highest taxes in the country. In fact, it’s one of the nation’s top ten least tax-friendly states. Raising taxes on all residents now will only harm Illinois’ most vulnerable in a time of great uncertainty.

Illinois leadership is trapped in a vicious tax and spend cycle, regularly forcing the financial burden onto citizens. Don’t think it’s just happening in Illinois, though. Liberal-led states across the country are struggling to figure out how to make up their budget deficits, and raising taxes is always an option for the Left.

Sincerely,

Casey
