Over the course of the next 35 days, we likely have two major priorities (u=
nless something else also comes up!). One is to support President Trump=E2=
=80=99s Supreme Court nominee, and the other is to Get Out The Vote and win=
the election!=20

So, the calls-to-action will mostly revolve around those two topics for the=
next several weeks. Remember, time is our most important resource because =
we can=E2=80=99t get any more of it, so let=E2=80=99s use it wisely!=20

**** Supreme Court Action

* Weekly Sign Waving Events =E2=80=93 Plan them now! *
The left is going to be out in the streets protesting against Amy Coney Bar=
rett and President Trump, as well as the onslaught from the mainstream medi=
a. Please organize sign/flag waving events now and get them on people=E2=80=
=99s calendars now. If you live near a local Senate office, hold the event =
outside of the office. If you don=E2=80=99t live near one, hold the event a=
t a busy intersection or another location where there is a lot of traffic g=
oing by.

Your sign waving might be some of the only pro-Trump and pro-Barrett messag=
ing that people in your community see. We=E2=80=99ve noted which days have =
things happening that day. Otherwise, make the event a =E2=80=9CConfirm Amy=
=E2=80=9D theme and/or pro-Trump theme, or a flag waving event. If Judge Ba=

There is still a drastic shortage of poll workers. Use our very short How-T=

Note that NOW is the time to be signing up because there are usually traini=
ngs that you must be able to go through, and there will be deadlines for co=
mpleting those trainings.

Also, in many states, teens can sign up to be poll workers. Since many kids=
aren=E2=80=99t in school right now, get them to help! Plus, in most states=
, poll workers get paid, and what teen doesn=E2=80=99t want a little extra =
money?

If you can=E2=80=99t be a poll worker because of health issues, you might b=
e able to help someone else sign up by offering to watch their kids. Again,=

who want to sign up, but need help watching their kids for the day.

The number one way we can stop the election from being stolen is to get as =
many voters to vote in person as possible, where it is appropriate. Therefo=

ke sure to do it!

NOTE: If you are high-risk and need to stay away from public places for you=
r health, or you live in a state where there is no in-person voting at all =

diciary and the concept of =E2=80=9Cjudicial supremacy.=E2=80=9D As we are,=
yet again, in a Supreme Court seat battle, we thought it was a good time t=
o learn about the Founders=E2=80=99 intents when it came to the courts.

With your family, read through this report from The Heritage Foundation, ti=
tled, =E2=80=9CAgainst Judicial Supremacy: The Founders and the Limits on t=

Here is the summary of the report:

=E2=80=9CAmericans=E2=80=99 contemporary understanding of judicial power is=
inconsistent with the argument put forward by Hamilton and Madison in The =
Federalist. Although The Federalist affirms the power of judicial review=E2=
=80=94and hence the role of the judiciary as a check on the other branches=
=E2=80=94it does not present this as the first or most important function o=
f the courts. Moreover, The Federalist does not support the vast implicatio=
ns of judicial review as including a power to decide the great moral issues=
of the times and to adjust the Constitution to trends in public opinion. F=
inally, The Federalist lends no aid to the belief that the Supreme Court is=
the ultimate interpreter of constitutional meaning, unanswerable for its i=

While it remains important =E2=80=93 critical, even =E2=80=93 to confirm or=
iginalist, constitutionalist judges to all levels of the judiciary, it is e=
qually important that we understand and teach our kids and grandkids about =
the role that the Founders actually intended for the judiciary.

1. How was The Federalist=E2=80=99s understanding of the judicial power =
significantly more circumscribed than is understood by many Americans today=

Over the course of the next 35 days, we likely have two major priorities (unless something else also comes up!). One is to support President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, and the other is to Get Out The Vote and win the election!

So, the calls-to-action will mostly revolve around those two topics for the next several weeks. Remember, time is our most important resource because we can’t get any more of it, so let’s use it wisely!

**** Supreme Court Action

* Weekly Sign Waving Events – Plan them now! *
The left is going to be out in the streets protesting against Amy Coney Barrett and President Trump, as well as the onslaught from the mainstream media. Please organize sign/flag waving events now and get them on people’s calendars now. If you live near a local Senate office, hold the event outside of the office. If you don’t live near one, hold the event at a busy intersection or another location where there is a lot of traffic going by.

Your sign waving might be some of the only pro-Trump and pro-Barrett messaging that people in your community see. We’ve noted which days have things happening that day. Otherwise, make the event a “Confirm Amy” theme and/or pro-Trump theme, or a flag waving event. If Judge Barrett is confirmed at some point, we will update you with messaging for these events.

- Thursday, October 8th – Day after VP debate
- Monday, October 12th – The first day of Judge Barrett’s Senate confirmation hearing
- Thursday, October 15th – The second presidential debate is scheduled

**** Sign Up to be a Poll Worker OR Help Someone Else Sign Up

There is still a drastic shortage of poll workers. Use our very short How-To Guide to help you figure out if you are eligible and how to sign up.

Note that NOW is the time to be signing up because there are usually trainings that you must be able to go through, and there will be deadlines for completing those trainings.

Also, in many states, teens can sign up to be poll workers. Since many kids aren’t in school right now, get them to help! Plus, in most states, poll workers get paid, and what teen doesn’t want a little extra money?

If you can’t be a poll worker because of health issues, you might be able to help someone else sign up by offering to watch their kids. Again, since many kids aren’t in school right now, there might be parents who want to sign up, but need help watching their kids for the day.

The number one way we can stop the election from being stolen is to get as many voters to vote in person as possible, where it is appropriate. Therefore, if you are able, please sign this pledge to vote in person, and then make sure to do it!

We’ve also heard from an activist in New Jersey who said that in NJ, the situation may be different, so be sure to reach out to other activists in your state to see what they are saying about the best way to vote in your state.

**** Make Real Civics Education a Priority Again – Week of October 5th

Keep an eye out every week for a new activity or book or lesson to bring real civics back to our children.

This week, we are taking a look at the Founders’ thoughts on the judiciary and the concept of “judicial supremacy.” As we are, yet again, in a Supreme Court seat battle, we thought it was a good time to learn about the Founders’ intents when it came to the courts.

With your family, read through this report from The Heritage Foundation, titled, “Against Judicial Supremacy: The Founders and the Limits on the Courts.” [[link removed]]

Here is the summary of the report:

“Americans’ contemporary understanding of judicial power is inconsistent with the argument put forward by Hamilton and Madison in The Federalist. Although The Federalist affirms the power of judicial review—and hence the role of the judiciary as a check on the other branches—it does not present this as the first or most important function of the courts. Moreover, The Federalist does not support the vast implications of judicial review as including a power to decide the great moral issues of the times and to adjust the Constitution to trends in public opinion. Finally, The Federalist lends no aid to the belief that the Supreme Court is the ultimate interpreter of constitutional meaning, unanswerable for its interpretations to any authority but itself.”

While it remains important – critical, even – to confirm originalist, constitutionalist judges to all levels of the judiciary, it is equally important that we understand and teach our kids and grandkids about the role that the Founders actually intended for the judiciary.

Turn the “key takeaways” at the start of the report into questions to discuss as a family:

1. How was The Federalist’s understanding of the judicial power significantly more circumscribed than is understood by many Americans today?

2. Why is this original account of judicial power more consistent with republican self-government and the sovereignty of the American people?

3. Discuss the idea that Congress may rightly discipline the judiciary by impeaching and removing from office judges who abuse the judicial power, and how that would affect the future of the American experiment.
