I love interning here because I get to support candidates who prioritize environmental justice and healthy communities. With ballots arriving October 17, we’re down to the final days to ensure we elect candidates who will tackle our biggest health and environmental challenges. Tanisha Harris is running for State Representative in the 17th Legislative District (Vancouver, Battle Ground, Salmon Creek) and will stand up for the environment, tribal treaty rights, and the health of our communities. Tanisha is a State Committeewoman, Executive Board Member of the Washington State Democrats, and serves as a member of LICWAC (Local Indian Child Welfare Advisory Committee). As a lifelong resident of Vancouver, Tanisha understands the values of her district and will prioritize supporting working and middle class families. She is committed to ensuring sufficient funding for schools, creating jobs here in WA, and investing in transportation. Tanisha knows the importance of environmental justice in addressing the climate crisis, and will fight to make sure every voice is at the decision table. Her opponent is a longtime incumbent who has a lifetime score of 0% on WCV’s environmental scorecard. Support Tanisha by joining WCV’s phonebank on 10/12. Next Monday is Indigenous Peoples Day. As we work to address our biggest environmental crises, our solutions must confront our colonial history and honor tribal treaty rights. Join us for our event next Monday to honor the Indigenous people of Washington and celebrate the Indigenous candidates running for office, including Tanisha Harris. Indigenous Peoples Day: Virtual Phonebank to Elect Tanisha Harris With less than 30 days to Election Day, I hope you can join me to ensure we elect strong environmental champions here in Washington!
