Dear John,

From farm gates to our plates, the Agriculture Bill will impact all our lives.

Soon, it will be back in the Commons, where the quality of the food we import will be decided. Will we strive for even better standards, or join Trump’s race to the bottom?

Once lost, our protections will be tough to re-establish. For three decades, we have fought to raise standards and protect citizens with the help of the EU. Don’t let it all be undone in a single vote.

Write to your MP today, and urge them to enshrine our high standards in law. If we don’t act soon, Trump’s trade team will get their way, and our supermarket shelves will be flooded with substandard food. Send a message to your MP.

In the USA, 90 per cent of lot livestock are given growth-promoting hormones, while massive amounts of antibiotics are used to counter-act unsanitary conditions in feedlots. The UK is one of the lowest users of livestock antibiotics in Europe, and these growth hormones have been banned for decades. <[link removed]>

British farmers will be trapped in an impossible position. They will be forced to adopt low standards to compete with cheap US imports, but will be unable to export to Europe, where standards will remain high.

It’s not just about farmers, it’s about your health. <[link removed]> The USA has much higher rates of food poisoning, because the quality of their food and their farms are lower than ours.

Write to your MP today, and call for robust protections for our food and our health in the Agriculture Bill. Send a message now.

Britain has some of the highest food and animal welfare standards in the world. But once we leave the EU standards regime, the quality of our food and our farms will be up for grabs.

Don’t let the government sell out our standards <[link removed]> to satisfy Trump’s trade agenda.

I believe the British people should decide their standards.

Best wishes,

Cary Mitchell,
